Ten individuals found guilty of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has convicted ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced charges of circulating fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to posting hurtful comments about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A persistent unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's biological sex.
Their complaint alleges that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these allegations on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she taught at his lycée.
The pair married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
